Basorun Adekanmbi Somoye was born at Bodo Village, Iporo Homestead, known as Orile-Iporo. His Father was Chief Jejusimi. His mother was Moloko, a princess from Orile–Oko, in the present Remo local Government Area. He was a prince, a warrior, and fondly remembered for his boldness, astuteness, leadership and sacrifices for the Egbaland.
The Somoye Family has decided to update and rebuild the Basorun Palace with a view to preserve its historical significance and turn it into a tourist attraction as well as avail it to promote the history of the Egbas. The rebuilt Palace will include a library, community meeting rooms, event hall, restaurant and bar, parking lot, chalets for short accommodation for family and visitors to Abeokuta, a cenotaph built over the grave of Basorun Somoye and perimeter fencing over the entire 1 acre property.
